Mr. Hunton is president, CEO, and co-founder of American Capital Energy. Tom is skilled at launching and growing businesses, products, markets, supply/distribution chains and business systems. Under Tom’s direction, ACE has become a leader in the large commercial and utility-scale photovoltaic market. Prior to ACE, Tom was the head of sales and marketing at SCHOTT Solar, a leading global manufacturer and supplier of solar wafers, cells and modules. Prior to SCHOTT Solar, Tom was marketing director at Green Mountain Energy Company, a start-up that quickly became the nation’s leading retailer of renewable energy. Tom holds a B.S. from the University of Vermont and an MSA from Saint Michael’s College. Tom also spent six years in the Air Force National Guard.
Chief Financial Officer
Art Hennessey, along with Tom Hunton, founded American Capital Energy with the vision of becoming one of America’s leading solar integration companies. Art has extensive financial leadership experience in growth and high tech companies: Computer Vision, Data General, Anheuser Busch, George W. Moore, and Coopers & Lybrand. Prior to starting American Capital Energy, Art served as head of finance for SCHOTT Solar in Billerica, MA, where his strategic financial acumen helped grow the company into one of the top five global PV manufacturers. Art is a graduate of Boston College and is a decorated disabled Viet Nam Veteran.
Dr. Juris Kalejs, PhD
Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Kalejs is American Capital Energy’s chief technology officer. Dr. Kalejs steers the company to the most efficient and effective solar technologies and installation techniques for its clients. Dr. Kalejs has more than thirty years of PV industry technology development experience, including R&D, manufacturing and marketing in positions that include research scientist, project leader, VP of engineering and chief scientific officer for international industry leaders. He has had multiple successes in proposal acceptance and funding procurements from U.S. government agencies. Dr. Kalejs has authored over one hundred scientific journal articles and book chapters, he co-chairs the annual European-American PV Rollout Conference, is a regular scientific conference speaker, a member of both national and international programs and organizing committees for professional society meetings. Dr. Kalejs is the holder of six patents. Dr. Kalejs holds a PhD in Physics from Brown University. He is a current member of the U.S. Photovoltaic Roadmap Committee.
Eric McLean, P.E.
Executive Vice President Operations
Eric is a Licensed Professional Engineer with a focus on civil, environmental and renewable systems engineering. Eric honed his mission-focused operations and leadership skills with ten years in the US Marine Corp Reserves, including a tour of duty in Iraq where he participated in the battle of Fallujah in 2005. Following Iraq, Eric spent ten years as an engineer at Weston & Sampson, a leading commercial and industrial infrastructure, architecture and project engineering firm. Eric leads American Capital Energy’s overall energy project operations. Eric holds a BS in civil and environmental engineering, combined with graduate certificates in business and renewable systems engineering from the University of Massachusetts.
Vice President Field Operations
With nearly thirty years experience in real estate development and construction project management, John is skilled in all facets of project and construction management: design, procurement, oversight, scheduling, coordinating trades, supervising deployment of critical equipment and personnel, meeting deadlines, maintaining strict budgetary awareness, site prep, staging, deployment of racking, modules, ballast, steel, string wiring, subarray wiring, installation of combiner boxes, inverters, AC and DC switches, testing and commissioning. John holds a BA in Business from Salem State University and a MS Humanities from California State University. OSHA‐30 + NFPA 70E Certified / NABCEP (National Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) level 1 Certification / HSPD12 Clearance for Construction Work in Federal Buildings / US Government Secret Security Clearance | Licensed Construction Supervisor – MA, RI and NH. John is a decorated disabled Iraq Veteran having served in both Gulf wars.
